Green Key: An International Environmental Label

The No.1 eco-label for tourist accommodations and restaurants in France

Created in 1998, the Green Key label is a serious environmental certification, awarded based on strict criteria set at an international level by the Foundation for Environmental Education, represented in France by the Teragir association. The certification conditions are updated every four years to adapt to technological advancements and environmental challenges.

Green Key promotes an eco-friendly policy and a socially responsible approach, including strict waste management, energy and water consumption control, responsible purchasing, and continuous awareness efforts for both hotel staff and guests. The certification system involves regular inspections and proof collection to confirm the commitment of establishments applying for the label.

As of 2025, Green Key has certified 2,428 establishments in France, including 208 hotels in Paris, while the international “Green Key” label has been adopted in 76 other countries!
